Who We Are

Psychedelic Symposium NYC is a grassroots advocacy and production collective based out of New York City founded by social workers. Our goal is to unite like-minded psychedelic professionals and scholars in community & solidarity.

Psychedelic Symposium fosters critical thinking and in-depth discussion of the topics and trends shaping psychedelics today.

Our events are radically inclusive and donation-driven. Our mission is to host innovative, industry-leading events open to everyone, no matter your ability to pay.

What We Do

Psychedelic Symposium NYC approaches psychedelic assisted psychotherapy through a social justice lens and seeks to mobilize such therapies as a tool to actively address generational trauma, institutional racism, and toxic hierarchical mindsets.

We seek to center the needs of the marginalized and dispossessed and reduce the barriers of access to therapy generally and psychedelic assisted psychotherapy specifically.

Naturally, such a focus centers queer and communities of color.

We also explore ways to respectfully incorporate indigenous and marginalized perspectives on non-ordinary states of mind with discussions of emerging clinical research and practices.

We aspire to ground participants in the cultural and contextual history of therapeutic and ceremonial psychedelic use in the Americas and beyond.

Why We Do It

Psychedelic therapies are poised to revolutionize the way mental health services are delivered. They are also uniquely vulnerable to the exploitative forces of which drive the free market.

Rather than a shared cultural and medicinal heritage available to all, moneyed interests seek to wall off these treatments behind staggering costs and exclusionary legislation which would prohibit traditional ceremonialists from operating safely and in the open.

This is unacceptable.

If we would safeguard this sacred resource for the next generation, we must organize. We must unite under our shared values of cooperation, generosity, and social justice.
